　　When Elle left BAU,she said to hotch:"you know,when I first joined the team,I couldn't figure out whyyou never ever smile,now I'm actually gonna miss that!"those words haunted Aaron Hotchner，that he thinks part of this happened because of him,because he didn't give a straight order and he should.Hotch felt that he has to take the responsibility for the whole team,so he worked more extra time than he already did,that comes consequences.First he missed a lot events with his son,Jack，and Haley is getting more and more impatient.There is quite a tension when he gets home,more fight over his job.he likes his job.
　　One day,he worked late and when he finished his reports，shut the computer and walked out,he saw Reid was sitting in the office and his eyes were closed.Hotch went down stairs，and called gently ，"Reid,why aren't you go home?"Spencer Reid open his eyes,"Nothing!"Reid didn't want to go home because after the case today, he didn't want to be alone in his apartment.so he seemed distracting when he said this."Can I talk to you?"Hotch couldn't just go,so he pulled out a chair and sit next to Reid .After threw a couple of question,hotch didn't do much of the talking,but Reid was just being Reid,arguing Hotch about the sign of typical Narcissist.they both enjoyed this evening.Reid even caught Hotch smiling several times,that makes him feel joyful for no reason.For Hotch ,it's better than rushing home and listening all the complains that his job caused.
　　Since that day,If hotch stays working late,Reid is always there doing something waiting for him,and they will talk about an hour or two.Reid likes talking,but not everybody is a good listener.And the truth is even if they wanted to, it's easily get lost when talking to him.Hotch is a great listener,he is wise and knows a lot.All the things Reid talked about,even if hotch doesn't know he is still patient enough to let Reid finished and maybe after Reid's explaination,he will ask some questions Reid can't answer and eager to do some research about it which will lead to their next gathering.Hotch loves his wife and son,but he realizes that he need some fresh air away from work and family,although,their topic is always behavior related.
　　It's been a while,and both of them have a tacit understanding that this secret meeting is just between them.It didn't ever occur them to share it with any of the team.
　　Georgia,the BAU is called up by local PD to help with a invasion killing of multiple unsubs,The one commited the crime and the one called the police.But as the investigation goes on, it's more and more likely that it was one person with three differernt personality.JJ and Reid is heading to the eye witness who walked his dog when he saw something.When they get there,they discovered something is wrong and they played by the heart and didn't wait for backups and split up.When the rest of the team arrived they found out that Reid was taken by Tobias Hankle.Hotch tries his best to remain calm,another member of his team is in danger,and it's Reid.He quickly get himself focus on the case.When he saw Reid was beaten up to death through the camera,his heart stops pumping till Tobias give Reid a CPR and bring him back.The whole team was tear up by that,It is when Raphael ask Reid which one in his team he chose to be dead."Tell me who dies?"And Reid just can't do it,"No!"

　　"Choose!"
　　"I won't do it."
　　"Life is a choice!"
　　"No."

　　Reid chose Hotch because he knew that Hotch will understand him,he didn't want to die,Not like this.When the team arrived,Hotch supported him to stand up，and he can't help hugging him tightly,and his voice sounded shaking,"I knew you will understand!"and Hotch cuddle him back real tight,I almost lost him,hotch thinks.almost......
